One day a gang of bandits discovered the cave. It was so remote, so well hidden, that they wanted to take it over as their own base, so they decided to kill all the monks. The head monk, fortunately, was a very persuasive speaker. He managed to persuade the gang of bandits to let all the monks go, except one, who would be killed as a warning to the other monks not to let anyone know the location of the cave. That was the best deal the head monk could wrangle from the bandits. The head monk was left alone for a few minutes to make the awful decision of who should be sacrificed so that the others could go free.
어느 날 한 무리의 도적들이 동굴을 발견했습니다. 그곳은 너무 멀리 떨어져 있고 잘 숨겨져 있어서 도적들은 그곳을 자신들의 기지로 삼고 싶어 했고, 모든 승려를 죽이기로 결심했습니다. 다행히 주지 승려는 매우 설득력 있는 연설가였습니다. 그는 도적들을 설득하여, 동굴의 위치를 아무에게도 알리지 말라는 경고로 한 명만 죽이고 나머지 승려들은 모두 풀어주겠다는 약속을 받아냈습니다. 그것이 주지 승려가 도적들로부터 이끌어낼 수 있었던 최선의 거래였습니다.
